Some Nepali Congress leaders have criticised the party leadership for failing to take strong stand on major political issues.

Speaking in an interaction programme organised in the capital on Saturday, the NC leaders claimed that the party leadership has failed to keep up the sentiments of the people expressed during the Jana Andolan. They said the party has loosened its position by agreeing to what communist parties demand.

Central leader Dr Narayan Khadka said the party leadership has forgotten its responsibility and accountability towards the people. He said the party leadership must stop agreeing to Maoist demands.

Likewise, Bijay Kumar Gachhadar urged the government and the party to take immediate steps for merger of People's Liberation Army and Nepali Army and concentrate on checking growing violence in Terai. He said the merger of PLA and NA would help reduce the political confrontation.

Another leader Govinda Raj Joshi asked the party leadership to go ahead with constituent assembly elections even if the Maoists do not participate in it. nepalnews.com ia Dec 08 07
