JANAKPUR, Dec 13 - Maoist Chairman Prachanda Thursday alleged that a conspiracy was being hatched against the Madhesi people.
Hinting at the latest move by some of the influential Madhesi lawmakers including Minister for Science and Technology and senior Nepali Congress (NC) leader Mahanta Thakur who resigned from parliament and their respective parties Monday to form a separate front to address the Terai problems, the Maoist Supremo said that a conspiracy was being hatched to deprive the Madhesi people of their rights by ‘opening new shops’.
He alleged that the ‘contractors’ who were against the armed struggle for autonomous Madhes region with right to self-determination had stood for the Madhesi people.
He was also hopeful that the current political deadlock would come to an end soon.
Saying that his latest meeting with Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala was ‘encouraging’, he said that he had proposed to the PM to hold a round table conference on the issue of proportional representation system for the Constitution Assembly elections.
Talking to media persons this morning in Janakpur, Prachanda informed that he has directed the other Maoist leaders and cadres to be ready for the third people’s movement.
He also said that the Constituent Assembly (CA) could not be dearer to any of the political parties than his own party as it was their idea to begin with.
“We wish for the right growth of the CA which was conceived by the party like a mother wishes for her child,” he said.
The Maoist Chairman who arrived in Janakpur on Wednesday to address the second national-level general conference of the Maoist sister organization, Madheshi Mukti Morcha, is returning to the capital this afternoon.
