TGW - Favoring the institution of monarchy, the daughter of Nepal's Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, Ms. Sujata Koirala talking to journalists in Mahendranagar, Kanchanpur District has said that there lay no fault with the institution of monarchy.
“An individual can do wrong but the institution as such can’t be penalized”, Ms. Koirala who is also a central committee member of the Nepali Congress party said at a program organized by the Press Union-Kanchanpur Chapter, yesterday.
I have always favored constitutional monarchial framework, she continued.
“King Gyanendra and his coterie might be bad but the institution of monarchy cannot be penalized only because of their past fault”, Ms. Koirala added.
Ms. Koirala also revealed that her father had given a chance for the institution to survive, a year ago, by proposing the idea of the “Minor-King”, however, the proposal was rejected by King Gyanendra.
“In any case, our party favors the institution of monarchy to continue, as most of the central committee members support the cause of the constitutional monarchy” she declared.
Finally, Ms. Koirala said, “We do not want Leftist Democracy in any for or manifestation”.
