‘India not pursuing policy that affects regional politics’
Kantipur Report
KATHMANDU, Dec 9 - Foreign Minister Sahana Pradhan has said that India insisted that it is not pursuing any policy that affects regional politics.
In the meeting on the Nepal-India border dispute with her Indian counterpart, Pranab Mukherjee, Minister Pradhan said that he said that India was not carrying any activities against the neighbouring countries.
Arriving in Kathmandu Sunday after attending the 29th ministerial-level meeting of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), she also informed that India has proposed a meeting of the joint-technical committee on border in New Delhi next week.
She said that there were some weaknesses even on the Nepali side on the Nepal-India border dispute.
Likewise, the ministerial-level meeting also decided to set up an interim Secretariat at the SAARC Secretariat in Kathmandu to operationalise the SAARC Development Fund.
“After evaluating the decisions taken in the 14th SAARC Summit, the ministerial-level meeting concluded that it is necessary to implement the declarations,” she said.
The meeting also emphasised on the need to improve regional transportation in the SAARC to promote bilateral and regional trade among the member states, she added.
