Maoist chairman Prachanda has claimed that the election to Constituent Assembly (CA) is not a panacea to all the problems facing the country.
Addressing a national convention on press freedom organised by the Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) in the capital, Tuesday, Prachanda said that holding election without resolving issues of conflict victims and others would be meaningless.
He said that (his party cannot) approach the people asking for votes without addressing the concerns of war victims.
Prachanda stressed that without activating the peace process, the election cannot be considered.
At the same programme, Unified Marxist Leninist (UML) general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal said that the current government cannot hold the election given its style of functioning.
He urged all to give the highest priority to the election.
