TGW - The high level Chinese delegation led by Dr. Wang Jiarui this morning met with Nepal's Prime Minister Mr. Girija Prasad Koirala.
Bilateral issues, issues related to the current political turmoil in Nepal were discussed, say reports.
Dr. Jiarui is the minister of International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
The delegation is to leave Nepal, today.
Mr. Jiarui yesterday held a more than three hour long meeting with the Maoists’ leaders in Dwarika Hotel, Kathmandu.
The delegation prior to meeting Prime Minister Koirala today, met various high ranking leaders belonging to the Nepali Congress, UML and other political parties in the Seven Party Alliances.
The delegation has responded positively to the fervent request made by Foreign Minister Ms. Sahana Pradhan to extend the railway link from Lhasa to the adjoining Nepal border, say Nepal’s foreign ministry sources.
Ms. Pradhan was recently snubbed by the Indian envoy to Nepal, Mr. Shiva Shankar Mukherjee for making comments regarding the construction of East-West 1800 Km road infrastructure by India along the border.
India had it that no plans were tabled as yet regarding the project however, eyewitness say that the construction is already underway.
